About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at a school in Hook. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychology, counselling, or a related field, with experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting. You will be responsible for providing tailored support to students on a one-on-one basis, collaborating with teachers and school staff to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with mental health needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop and implement support plans
  • Be a calming presence during challenging situations, offering immediate support and helping students navigate difficult emotions
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and collaborating on strategies for continued support at home
  • Work in classrooms supporting teachers and fellow teaching assistants

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, counselling, or a related field
  • Experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Compassion and empathy for the well-being of children
  • Experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs
