The Role

We seek an experienced Data Strategy Director to spearhead our Product Analytics, Data Science and Machine Learning efforts, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer.

This role will play a pivotal part in shaping our data strategy, driving growth, and leveraging our data assets to their full potential. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Data Strategy Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with company objectives, fostering excellence and continuous learning within a team of data professionals.
  2. Data Science & Machine Learning: Oversee the development and deployment of advanced models to solve complex business challenges, enhance customer experiences, and drive innovation.
  3. Analytics & Insights: Lead analytics to deliver actionable insights informing strategic decisions and operational improvements across the business.
  4. Experimentation: Champion a test-and-learn culture by overseeing experimentation frameworks and processes, ensuring rigorous evaluation of new ideas and initiatives.
  5. Data Governance & Quality: Establish robust data governance practices and standards for data quality, privacy, and security compliance.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data, aligning data initiatives with business priorities.
Requirements
  • 20+ years experience in data roles, preferably ecommerce or marketplace experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to apply technological advancements to real-world problems.
  • Proven senior data leadership experience with a track record of developing and executing impactful data strategies at strong product companies.
  • Extensive expertise in data science, machine learning, analytics, and experimentation methodologies.
  • Leadership qualities with experience building, mentoring, and leading high-performing data teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate complex data concepts into actionable business insights.
  • Strong understanding of data systems, architecture, and ML operations, overseeing scalable data and machine learning pipelines.
  • A forward-thinking individual with a passion for staying ahead of data trends and technologies.
  • Relevant advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
