Job Title: Satellite Systems Engineer

Expleo is seeking a highly skilled Satellite Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing satellite communication systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Define and flow down requirements for satellite systems
  • Capture and define requirements from stakeholder needs through to sub-systems, with ownership of traceability and verification
  • Support Verification, Validation, and Test (VV&T) activities
  • Develop ground system level architectural design and perform trade-offs
  • Work with engineering leads and partners to define segment and associated sub-system architectures via integrated working groups
  • Contribute to technical proposal inputs
  • Lead customer and internal governance reviews
  • Provide technical support to bidding teams
  • Contribute to systems engineering and project management activities as required
  • Inform stakeholders on progress and problem resolution
  • Design and analyze payload and platform communication systems
  • Perform link budget and capacity analysis
  • Manage related satellite resources, processes, and budgets
  • Define and manage satellite interfaces and communication subsystems
  • Support satellite assembly, integration, and test activities, including preparation of related documentation
  • Contribute to system test and commissioning
  • Support new service design processes
  • Specify, purchase, and test VSAT terminals to support delivery of new services
Qualifications:
  • Education to degree level in an engineering or scientific discipline, or relevant knowledge and experience
  • Background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial
  • At least 10 years of experience in design, analysis, and test of RF systems
  • Experience in satellite communication and high-throughput satellites
  • Experience with RF equipment, including telemetry transmitters, telecommand receivers, amplifiers, filters, and frequency converters
  • Experience with satellite platform communication protocols
  • Experience with link budget and capacity analysis, system optimization
  • Knowledge of system modeling and analysis using tools like MATLAB, Microwave Studio-CST, SatSoft, SatMaster, or equivalent
  • Experience in technology-based projects in multinational environments
  • High competence in teamwork, organization, and communication skills
Essential Skills:
  • Previous experience in satellite systems design
  • Previous experience with satellite network operators
  • Current knowledge of RF and IF architecture and best design practice
  • Satellite network system design experience
  • Able to calculate link budgets for complex SATCOM systems
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with the MILSATCOM domain
  • Experience with Skynet 5/6
  • Experience in military communication systems design
  • Knowledge of satellite ranging techniques
  • Experience working across the complete engineering lifecycle
