Job Title: NHS Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated NHS Specialist Nurse to join our Cancer Nursing Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with urological metastatic cancer.

About the Role:

This is a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist position, requiring a registered nurse with experience in cancer care and a strong understanding of the local and national nursing agenda. The successful candidate will work autonomously within their scope of practice and support the team to deliver safe and effective care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient-centered support and education to individuals with metastatic disease
  • Work closely with the wider urology MDT, oncology MDT, and palliative and End of Life team to deliver a service based on individual patient needs
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice and providing education and support to members of the MDT
  • Be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of patients and the service

Person Specification:
  • Experience at Band 5 or equivalent, within a specialty, preferably cancer, palliative care, or urology
  • Experience of undertaking Audit and Standard setting
  • Understanding of the local and national nursing agenda
  • Understanding of relevant national service frameworks/national guidance
  • Understanding of research-based practice
  • Knowledge of current issues within healthcare
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1)
  • Diploma level education or equivalent
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Willing to undergo training as necessary
