Key Responsibilities

  1. To conduct site visits, often working independently, to complete ecological assessments and surveys in accordance with current industry guidelines and procedures.
  2. To produce high-quality report documentation detailing the findings of survey work, with assistance available when needed.
  3. To assess and collate publicly available data and data obtained from local groups and centres as part of the desktop study.
  4. To provide expert ecological advice and guidance to clients, consulting with senior team members as required.
  5. To maintain and improve your knowledge and experience through private reading, participation in external activities, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  6. To actively seek assistance and help when required from team members.
  7. To mentor junior or less experienced team members in their day-to-day work and professional development.
  8. To provide technical review of reports prior to approval and submission to clients.
  9. To support the Managing Director/Management Team in operational duties.
  10. To use company vehicles for travel to sites, adhering to insurance criteria.
  11. To undertake any other reasonable duties allocated from time to time, commensurate with the post.
Requirements
  1. At least two years of experience as a Senior Ecologist.
  2. Must possess at least two species licenses.
  3. Demonstrated experience in fieldwork, including habitat and bat surveys.
  4. A solid track record in office-based consultancy tasks such as reporting and mapping.
  5. Level 1 Class Licence for bat surveys, with other survey licenses welcomed.
  6. Strong botanical identification skills.
  7. Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments and using the UKHab classification.
  8. Capability to conduct regular fieldwork.
Preferred but NOT Essential
  1. Membership of CIEEM.
  2. Level 2 Class Licence for bat surveys.
  3. Licenses for other protected species surveys.
  4. Experience in EPS Mitigation Licensing.
  5. Proficiency in GIS mapping.
  6. Understanding of relevant protected species planning policies, including the NPPF and local plans, in relation to development.
Remuneration Package
The remuneration package offered will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate, but will likely include a basic salary between £25,000 - £50,000, plus additional benefits such as health, pension, laptop, and mobile phone.
