About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Secretary to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Support Secretary, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout their stay with us.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal care, including meeting hygiene, nutrition, and continence needs.
- Support patients to mobilise where appropriate.
- Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight, as instructed by qualified nurses.
- Test specimens and record results.
- Support patients undergoing clinical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety under the supervision of qualified nurses.
- Restock departmental areas as required and report any shortages to the Nurse in Charge or Ward Manager.

Requirements:
- No previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in care is necessary, but you must demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and a compassionate attitude towards working with patients.
- A commitment to completing all training, including the Care Certificate if appropriate.
Desirable Criteria:
- Healthcare-related NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent at Level 3.
- National Care Certificate.
- Maths and English GCSE passes at grade D or above.
- Previous care experience.
Person Specification:
- Qualifications: NVQ Health and Social Care.
- Communication and Learning: Good Written Communication, Willingness for further development.
- Passion for Frailty roles: Evidence of recognising frailty and older people's needs.
- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role), Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
