Automation Expert

The Scottish Government is seeking an experienced Automation Expert to join its Corporate Transformation Directorate. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in delivering agile projects and working closely with other members to develop and deliver automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in identifying automation opportunities and employing process optimisation techniques and LEAN/agile methodologies where required.
  • Lead on the design, build, testing, and deployment of automation process solutions, including collecting and documenting requirements, defining process and technical solutions, prototyping, configuring digital components, and supporting stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify obstacles and help the team to overcome them while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Oversight of the prioritisation, investigation, and resolution of issues and change requests in the production environment.
  • Work with the technical architect to formulate a long-term development strategy.
  • Define RPA development methodology and testing practices/standards, ensuring adherence to RPA/development/coding standards and naming conventions.
  • Stakeholder management and engagement, encouraging and facilitating continuous improvement.
  • Build, maintain, and mature a motivated and collaborative agile team, and line manage other colleagues as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing complex AI-powered automated solutions using a range of hyper-automation platforms, including Blue Prism, UiPath, and Microsoft.
  • Strong understanding of process optimisation techniques and LEAN/agile methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and lead others as required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £44,557 per annum.
  • A £5,000 per annum pro-rata DDaT Pay Supplement after a 3-month competency qualifying period.
  • A 24-month Fixed Term Appointment.
