Special Needs Education Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Part-Time Teacher of Special Educational Needs (SEN) to provide tailored support to secondary school students with SEN and develop individualised education plans to promote academic progress and social development.
- Develop and implement individualised education plans based on students' needs, utilising a strengths-based approach to foster independence and self-advocacy skills.
- Deliver engaging lessons and activities that cater to diverse learning styles, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure seamless communication and effective support strategies.
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet evolving needs, leveraging data-driven insights to inform instruction.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, with a strong foundation in special educational needs theory and practice.
- Experience working with students with SEN, preferably in a secondary school setting, demonstrating adaptability and a growth mindset.
- Understanding of SEN legislation and best practices, including the importance of personalised learning and collaborative working.
Salary and Benefits: The estimated salary for this role is £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including opportunities for professional development, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive team environment.
Requirements:
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs, showcasing creativity and flexibility in lesson planning.
- Additional training or certification in SEN support, such as the National Award for SENCO or similar qualifications.
- Experience working in a secondary school setting, preferably with students who require additional support.
Working Conditions:
- Part-Time hours with flexibility required, allowing for a healthy work-life balance and the opportunity to pursue other interests.
- Work primarily within a school setting, collaborating with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Collaborative work with school staff, parents, and external agencies, fostering open communication and a shared commitment to student success.
