Consultant Role in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine
We are seeking two dedicated and skilled consultants to enhance our team, aiming to provide exceptional healthcare services to our community.

These are permanent consultant positions, primarily based at our healthcare facility, with responsibilities extending into community settings to assist in the management of elderly patients in their homes.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will oversee and mentor junior and middle-grade medical personnel. They will also receive support to pursue formal training in educational mentorship.
The consultants will strengthen existing collaborations with primary and community healthcare services, ensuring that older adults with health risks are identified and referred to appropriate services, thereby promoting their independence and minimizing the likelihood of health crises.
This role may involve coordinating specialized multidisciplinary meetings that include primary and community care professionals to ensure patients receive comprehensive care plans that enable them to maintain their health at home for as long as possible.

Job Responsibilities
The Trust is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of children, young individuals, and vulnerable adults. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment by adhering to Trust policies and procedures, responding promptly to concerns, and communicating effectively.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check, with associated costs deducted from their initial salary.
Additionally, employment will be contingent upon joining the DBS update service and paying the annual subscription fee.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Full registration with the GMC
- Relevant CCT or entry on the specialist register expected within six months or applied for
- MRCP qualification
Training Requirements
Essential
- 4-5 years of training at ST3+ level in General Internal Medicine and Rheumatology
- Comprehensive training across all relevant medical disciplines
- Significant experience and interest in Rheumatology
Desirable
- Interest in collaborating with Emergency Medicine to manage patients with acute medical issues during admissions
Experience Requirements
Essential
- Independent daily ward rounds for acutely ill patients
- Comprehensive management of patient care
- Demonstrated experience in managing rheumatology patients
Desirable
- Involvement in quality improvement initiatives related to rheumatology services
Management and Administrative Skills
Essential
- Understanding of the managerial responsibilities of a consultant within the NHS
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload

- Experience in developing protocols and influencing management changes
