About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Professional to join our Adult Social Care Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Service.

As an AMHP, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health needs, working closely with our health colleagues in Devon Partnership Trust and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for our service users.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out assessments and interventions under the Mental Health Act, including consideration under s13 and the use of Guardianship and Community Treatment Orders.
  • Provide advice and support to Local Authority Adult Social Care Teams on complex practice issues related to mental disorder.
  • Contribute to Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) working, safeguarding meetings, and joint visits with Social Care staff.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a registered Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Nurse with a proven commitment to professional development and experience of working with people in mental health crises.

You should hold current AMHP approval or be willing to undertake the specialist AMHP training course. A strong appreciation and understanding of the European Convention on Human Rights and a commitment to the principles of mental health legislation are essential.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • Recognised AMHP qualification.
  • Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body (Social Work England, HCPC, NMC, or BPS).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Completion of a Post-Qualifying Award.
  • Evidence of an up-to-date continual professional development log.

Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years' experience of working with people in mental health crises.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a similar role or with a similar population.
