Ship Maintenance and Engineering Leader

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer to join our team at Oregon State University's Ship Operations unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the machinery, mechanical, and electrical systems on our Research Vessel (R/V) Taani.
Job Overview:
- Lead the Engine Department to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless vessel operations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and train Engineers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
- Participate in the development and implementation of vessel maintenance schedules.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in marine engineering and leadership.
- Strong technical knowledge of ship systems and operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. Oregon State University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
