We are committed to supporting candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, or neurodiversity by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment processes and practices.
This full-time position is based in the Laboratory Medicine department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. The successful candidate will manage a team of biomedical scientists and be responsible for organizing laboratory huddles, management meetings, staff training, and quality assurance.
As a Team Manager, you will be expected to have extensive experience in managing staff, with a proven track record of leadership and organizational skills. A background in Histopathology is essential, with experience in managing laboratories and staff.
Cellular Pathology is a dynamic department with a combined workload of over 62,000 requests annually. Our laboratories are well-equipped, and we are UKAS accredited. The department consists of two sites within Edinburgh, with opportunities to develop specialized skills such as Dissection, Muscle Enzyme Histochemistry, and Sural Nerve Resin processes.
The successful candidate must be HCPC registered, educated to SCQF level 11, and have a relevant degree or equivalent experience. A Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology or equivalent experience is also required.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading healthcare organization and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. If you are a motivated and experienced leader with a passion for Histopathology, we encourage you to apply.
NHS Scotland is committed to reducing its full-time working week to 37 hours, with a target of 1 April 2024. This change will not affect pay, and part-time staff will be affected proportionally. However, some service areas may require staff to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week until their rosters or working patterns are adjusted.
