Job Title: ICT Support Engineer

We are seeking an experienced ICT Support Engineer to join our team in Huddersfield. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our ICT infrastructure, including servers, PCs, printers, and telecommunications equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a broad technical understanding of our ICT infrastructure and be the go-to person for incidents and ad-hoc support requests.
  • Ensure all ICT equipment and infrastructure are running at optimum performance, including internal networks, servers, PCs, printers, and telecommunications equipment.
  • Carry out change management requests, which may involve out-of-hours work.
  • Install, maintain, and support all ICT equipment, including servers, desktop PCs, laptops, telecoms equipment, printers, scanners, and workstations.
  • Maximise the availability of all ICT equipment and infrastructure through continuous improvement and proactive maintenance.
  • Ensure all devices have up-to-date Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam software and have plans in place to respond to virus outbreaks.
  • Liaise with contractors and external supply partners to resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct user equipment trials and testing.
  • Provide technical support to projects and initiatives.
  • React quickly to live infrastructure and equipment errors to minimise downtime.
  • Identify business, security, and compliance risks associated with all equipment and infrastructure.
  • Provide solutions, guidance, and help to user problems.
  • Support users in the use of all equipment and relevant infrastructure.
  • Log and respond to all support calls and provide timely updates to users and senior management.
  • Liaise with outsourced partners and others on technical issues and project work.
  • Handle confidential information in line with our data security protocols.
  • Monitor and analyse the existing ICT infrastructure to identify and recommend new technologies and advancements.
  • Ensure regulatory and legislative compliance, including Health & Safety requirements for ICT equipment.
  • Identify business, security, and compliance risks associated with ICT equipment and infrastructure and formulate a plan to mitigate those risks.
  • Develop and manage the company ICT security policy.
  • Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan for the business.
  • Ensure regular service of server and network management tasks.
  • Install and configure ICT equipment to a specification requested by senior management.
  • Provide a visible and accessible IT support to employees and guests.
  • Undertake ICT equipment and infrastructure projects from proposal through to delivery.
  • Manage and maintain server/communications room, including racking and cabling.
  • Provide support to the company's video conferencing and AV facilities.
  • Design, update, and maintain technical documentation relating to IT protocols and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate moves around the office.
  • Contribute to change management projects and take responsibility for own personal development.
Requirements:
  • Previous practical experience of supporting infrastructure within a commercial environment.
  • Essential technical skills: Virtual Servers, HP Switching and Configuration, VLANs, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Group Policies, Exchange Server 2007/2010/2013/2016, SQL Server Management 2008/2012/2014, Windows 7 and 10, Server Hardware, Networking and Firewalls, Backup Technologies and Disaster Recovery, Office 365.
  • Desirable technical skills: SonicWall, VPN, SSL-VPN, MDM, WiFi networks, Nutanix or alternative Hyper-converged solution, Phone System experience (preferably Mitel), Sage Accounts and Payroll, CCTV System Management, Door/Security Access Management.
