About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Caretaker to join our team at UTC@MediaCityUK. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our academy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage repairs, decorating, and testing across the Estates Cluster.
  • Perform hands-on tasks, including moving heavy items, maintaining the grounds, and setting up for events.
  • Ensure the site remains tidy, with tests logged, bins emptied, and litter-free.
  • Handle security tasks, such as opening and closing daily, and responding to emergency calls.
  • Update the Estates Cluster Supervisor on lettings, planning, and maintenance.
  • Keep equipment in good condition, including changing lamps and syncing clocks as needed.
  • Address academy requests professionally and log outcomes with the Estates Cluster Supervisor.
  • Manage deliveries, ensuring items are delivered and placed correctly.
  • Work safely, following safe work practices, conducting risk assessments, and guiding contractors as directed.
  • Monitor site security, including CCTV and safeguarding, and report any issues.
  • Stay compliant with health and safety regulations and report any issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with external cleaning, catering, and grounds management services.
  • Support other academies in the cluster as needed.
  • Oversee lettings, setting up and supervising events to ensure everyone's safety and adherence to rules.
Requirements
  • GCSE or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience in managing premises, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • DIY skills, including repairs across various trades.
  • Security knowledge, responsible for keeping the building secure and familiar with security systems.
  • Time management skills, able to juggle tasks and prioritize to keep customers happy.
  • Physical fitness, able to lift and carry items, follow equipment instructions, and adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Team player, able to work well with others and handle tasks independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible, open to working different hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proactive, with strong initiative, great customer care skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Health and safety knowledge, able to perform checks, implement fixes, and document everything.
