Caretaker - MediaCity

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Caretaker to join our team at UTC@MediaCityUK. As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the academy, maintaining the facilities, and providing excellent customer service.

• Manage repairs, decorating, and testing across the Estates Cluster
• Perform hands-on tasks, including moving heavy items, maintaining the grounds, and setting up for events
• Ensure the site is kept tidy, including logging tests, emptying bins, and maintaining litter-free areas
• Handle security tasks, including opening and closing the site daily and responding to emergency calls
• Update the Estates Cluster Supervisor on lettings, planning, and maintenance
• Keep equipment in good working order, including changing lamps and synchronizing clocks
• Address academy requests professionally and log outcomes with the Estates Cluster Supervisor
• Manage deliveries and ensure items are placed correctly
• Work safely, following safe work practices, conducting risk assessments, and guiding contractors as directed by the Estates Cluster Supervisor
• Monitor site security, including CCTV and safeguarding, and report any issues
• Stay compliant with health and safety regulations and report any issues immediately
• Coordinate with external cleaning, catering, and grounds management services
• Support other academies in the cluster as needed
• Oversee lettings, setting up and supervising events to ensure everyone's safety and adherence to rules
• Work collaboratively with the Estates Cluster Supervisor and academy leaders to deliver exceptional service

• GCSE or equivalent
• Hands-on experience in managing premises, maintenance, and cleaning
• DIY skills, including repairs across various trades
• Security knowledge and responsibility for keeping the building secure
• Time management and prioritization skills to keep customers happy
• Physical fitness to lift and carry items, follow equipment instructions, and adhere to safety guidelines
• Team player with strong initiative, customer care skills, and a positive attitude
• Flexibility to work different hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed

• Health and safety knowledge and experience
• Education background in an educational setting
• Equipment savvy and comfortable using commercial maintenance tools
• Trade training in a relevant trade or profession, such as joinery, painting and decorating, or plumbing
