About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Estates Officer to join our team at UTC@MediaCityUK. As an Estates Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth, day-to-day running of the academy's facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage repairs, decorating, and testing across the Estates Cluster.
  • Get hands-on with maintenance tasks, including moving heavy items and setting up for events.
  • Keep the site tidy, ensuring tests are logged, bins are emptied, and the area remains litter-free.
  • Be the keyholder, handling security tasks, such as opening and closing daily, and responding to emergency calls.
  • Report back to the Estates Cluster Supervisor on lettings, planning, and maintenance.
  • Keep equipment in shape, changing lamps and syncing clocks as needed.
  • Handle requests professionally, logging outcomes with the Estates Cluster Supervisor.
  • Manage deliveries, ensuring items are delivered and placed correctly.
  • Work safely, following safe work practices, conducting risk assessments, and guiding contractors as directed by the Estates Cluster Supervisor.
  • Monitor security, keeping an eye on site security, including CCTV and safeguarding, and reporting any issues.
  • Stay compliant, following health and safety regulations and reporting any issues right away.
  • Coordinate with contractors, working with external cleaning, catering, and grounds management services.
  • Help out other academies, supporting them as needed.
  • Oversee lettings, setting up and supervising events, ensuring everyone is safe and follows the rules.

Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience managing premises, maintenance, and cleaning.
  • D.I.Y. skills, including repairs across various trades.
  • Security knowledge, responsible for keeping the building secure and familiar with security systems.
  • Time management skills, able to juggle tasks and prioritize to keep customers happy.
  • Physical fitness, able to lift and carry items, follow equipment instructions, and stick to safety guidelines.
  • Team player, able to work well with others but also handle tasks independently and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, open to working different hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Proactive, with strong initiative, great customer care skills, and a positive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Health and safety knowledge, able to perform checks, implement fixes, and keep everything documented.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Health and safety knowledge, a good grasp of H&S.
  • Education background, experience in an educational setting.
  • Equipment savvy, comfortable using commercial maintenance tools.
  • Trade training, training in a relevant trade or profession, such as joinery, painting and decorating, or plumbing.
