Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, United Kingdom National Grid Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental and Consenting Specialist to join our Offshore Coordination team. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise on environmental and community impact assessments for offshore design appraisals.

The role will involve working collaboratively across the ESO on environmental and social impact areas, and interfacing with relevant external stakeholders including government departments, nature conservation bodies, and community interest groups.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of environmental legislation, planning processes, consenting regimes, and environmental assessment processes. They will also have experience of managing complex projects and managing consultants to deliver desired outcomes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the assessment methodology for assessing the environmental and community impact of offshore wind farm connections and leading the appraisal of environmental and community considerations for various design options being considered within the HND.

They will also provide environmental and consenting expertise and knowledge to the project design options being developed under the HND to minimise environmental and community impact and ensure design proposals are consentable and deliverable.

The role will involve managing specialist consultants responsible for delivering the cable corridor routing and subsequent environmental and community appraisals, ensuring their work is delivered accurately and on time.

The successful candidate will also work with key external stakeholders including transmission owners, government, and statutory bodies to present and gain feedback on HND design options.

They will support the appraisal of various design options against the terms of reference within the HND to provide a final design recommendation.

The successful candidate will articulate the rationale for the final design recommendation within technical reports and in meetings with interested stakeholders.

They will also work with the design teams to integrate environment and community considerations into network designs, ensuring we have a network design which achieves better environment and community outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a willingness to contribute, adapt, and learn within a busy fast-moving team.

They will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate complex technical information.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to build high-quality relationships both internally and externally and use those to achieve the required outcomes.

We offer a competitive salary between £51,000 - £61,000 per annum, dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

We also offer full support and career-development resources to expand your skills, enhance your expertise, and maximise your potential along your career journey.

We are committed to building a workforce that represents the communities we serve, and a working environment in which each individual feels valued, respected, fairly treated, and able to reach their full potential.
