About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Assistant Director of People to join our Executive Leadership team at Greater Manchester Police. As a key member of the Chief Constable's team, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering our people strategy, driving organisational performance, and fostering a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy aligned with the 5-year plan, driving organisational performance and excellence.
  • Lead and manage a team of HR professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure the delivery of high-quality people services.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to influence and shape organisational culture, promoting a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and respect.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Chief Constable and Executive Leadership team on people-related matters, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including employees, unions, and external partners, to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a senior HR leader in a large, complex organisation, with a track record of delivering high-impact people strategies.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to deliver exceptional results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data and develop innovative solutions.
  • Relevant professional qualifications, such as a degree in HR or a related field, and a recognised HR certification.
