Job Description

We are seeking a Graduate Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Poole. As part of our growth and succession planning, the Quality department is looking to coach and mentor the successful candidate to become the next Supplier Quality Engineer.

The Graduate Supplier Quality Engineer will work with the procurement team under the direct management of the Supplier Development Engineer. The role will involve shadowing different function groups and learning all aspects of quality control and improvements. The candidate will be expected to work and collaborate within the internal business team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site supplier visits to facilitate root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
  • Review supplier data and manufacturing processes, collaborate with both internal and external suppliers to identify process improvements.
  • Manage and coordinate supplier performance packs and relevant metrics, including DPPM, Supplier problem Log, Order book adherence, cost recovery, and supplier warranty indicators.
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities both internally and at the supplier.
  • Assist with supplier evaluations and audits to support the approval process by assessing quality systems, manufacturing/technology capabilities.
  • Assist in new product launches to ensure that supplier parts meet specification, drawing, and quality standards using tools such as APQP and PPAP.
Requirements
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering/quality engineering degree preferred, or ONC/HNC, A Levels, BTEC Diploma Level 3, or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.
  • Some experience in composites manufacturing/assembly.
  • Knowledge of quality and business systems.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques, inspection methods, and equipment.
  • Good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Some basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of cost and financial impacts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
