Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of claims, ensuring timely allocation of tasks within department, company, and FCA guidelines.
  • Provide point of contact for incoming broker queries or complaints, ensuring these are actioned as appropriate.
  • Keep brokers and policyholders fully updated throughout the claim.
  • Manage complaints with confidence, with minimum assistance from team leader and manager.
  • Coach and mentor staff, providing relevant training as part of that role.
  • Provide support and advice to junior staff daily.
  • Monitor the department's workload, prioritizing junior staff tasks, and ensuring no backlog develops.
  • Assist with team/department reports and audits in absence of more senior claim handlers.

Requirements:

  • Strong previous experience in a similar Senior Claims Handler role, handling 3rd party claims.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor junior staff.
  • Either hold a CII Certificate or willing to work towards this.
  • Dip CII would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Confident negotiator with ability to influence outcomes.
  • Strong customer care skills with active listening skills.
  • General skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
