About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized General Practice Support Officer to join our team. As a key member of our primary care team, you will provide vital administrative and clinical support to our GPs, enabling them to focus on delivering high-quality patient care.

Job Description
  1. Respond to patient emails and phone calls, ensuring prompt communication and resolution.
  2. Assist in extracting relevant information from clinical letters, facilitating accurate coding and documentation.
  3. Conduct basic clinical procedures, including urine dips, blood pressure checks, ECGs, and phlebotomy, under the guidance of senior medical staff.
  4. Prepare and complete routine forms for GP approval, such as insurance and benefits applications.
  5. Liaise with external agencies on behalf of the GP, building strong relationships and ensuring seamless care coordination.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.
  • Previous experience working in healthcare, preferably in a primary care setting.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Familiarity with EMIS Web clinical system and database management.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with NHS standards.
