Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to a team of Consultant Oncologists and associated clinical staff, ensuring the efficient operation of front-line services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate clinic management, prioritize workload, and liaise with other medical secretaries and allied services.
  • Manage referrals, new appointments, and patient liaison, requiring emotional resilience and organizational skills.
  • Provide first point of contact for the Consultants' office, handling sensitive information and coordinating visiting consultant workload.
  • Act as the named point of contact when colleagues are on leave.
  • Perform various office duties, including word processing, audio typing, and communication with external trusts.
  • Cover for colleagues' annual leave and work efficiently from the office or from home.
Requirements
  • English GCSE or equivalent.
  • RSA typing qualification or proven experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is highly desirable.
  • Experience of secretarial/administrative work, word processing, and audio-typing.
  • Excellent keyboard skills, clear and concise verbal communication, and ability to work under pressure.
