Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Cancer Support Worker in Urology at Whittington Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting patients affected by cancer, providing exceptional care and navigating the complex health and social care system.

Main Responsibilities

The Cancer Support Worker will be instrumental in:

  • Providing regular supported conversations with patients, assessing their holistic needs and supporting them to self-manage.
  • Contributing to the completion of holistic needs assessments and developing individual care plans under the direction of the Urology Clinical Nurse Specialists.
  • Coordinating care with patients, ensuring they access the right help at the right time and providing a seamless experience of care.
  • Providing Level 1 psychological support to patients and referring those who require Level 2 support to the Urology CNSs.
  • Providing practical and emotional support to patients and their families, recognising that information needs may change over time.
