Clinical Coding Specialist

We are currently seeking a skilled Clinical Coder to join our busy Clinical Coding department at the NHS. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge in the application of ICD10 and OPCS 4 classifications, with a strong understanding of medical records contents and medical terminology.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for accurately assigning clinical codes to reflect patients' diagnosis and operative procedures using an international coding classification. This complex role requires abstracting and analysing complex clinical information from patient health records, including electronic discharge summaries, nursing notes, and diagnostic tests.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience. The successful applicant will also have access to extensive training and development opportunities, including paid mandatory training and professional career pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately assign clinical codes using ICD10 and OPCS 4 classifications
  • Analyse complex clinical information from patient health records
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure accurate data is collected and maintained
Requirements
  • Educated to GCSE Level Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Attainment of National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ)
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
