About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Energy Policy Adviser to join our team at HM Treasury. As a key member of our Energy Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering the Government's ambition to deliver nuclear power projects, ensuring energy security, decarbonizing our energy supply, and reaching Net Zero.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero on multiple nuclear policy issues, including Sizewell C and other projects, considering wide ranges of options to meet Government nuclear ambitions.
  2. Advise Treasury ministers and seniors on the technical and delivery considerations for nuclear technologies.
  3. Work closely with Treasury teams to ensure spending, fiscal, and other key considerations are reflected in discussions with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and other departments on nuclear policy.
  4. Maintain effective relationships with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, industry, and other partners to understand and advise ministers on key decisions and solutions to policy problems that arise in nuclear policy.

About You

We're looking for individuals who are comfortable and confident with developing and presenting arguments following analysis of evidence, and who can easily see their work within the context of wider organisational priorities. You'll also need experience or understanding of energy or nuclear policy, economic regulation, or project financing.
