About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Physician to join our team at Drs Ltd as a Clinical Lead for Occupational Health. This is a key role that will contribute to the development of our Occupational Health and Well-being Service, providing expert clinical leadership and support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and support to our Occupational Health Advisors and Technicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality occupational health services to our clients.
  2. Case Management: Manage complex case work, including dealing with escalated cases from our Occupational Health Advisors and Technicians, and providing advice on work-related health issues.
  3. Health Surveillance: Conduct health surveillance programmes to monitor the health of workers who are potentially exposed to hazards at work.
  4. Occupational Health Services: Assess the fitness of workers for specific tasks, recommending suitable adjustments to enable workers to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  5. Investigation and Management: Investigate and manage cases of occupational injuries and illnesses, establishing whether they are single cases or part of a wider incidence.
  6. Immunisation Programmes: Manage immunisation programmes for workplace biological hazards and for business travellers.
  7. Health Promotion: Work with employers to promote best practice in physical and mental health in the workplace, helping to prevent sick leave.
  8. Workplace Visits: Visit workplaces to advise on the provision of safe and healthy conditions, informed by scientific assessment of the physical and psychological aspects of the working environment.
  9. Return to Work: Case manage workers who are on sick leave, working with other health professionals to ensure the earliest return of functional capacity and return to work.
  10. Medical Criteria: Determine whether employees satisfy the medical criteria for ill health retirement under the terms of the relevant pension fund rules.
Requirements
  1. Medical Qualifications: Hold a valid GMC Registration.
  2. Occupational Medicine Qualifications: Ideally be a Fellow or Member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (F/MFOM), however a recognised post graduate qualification in Occupational Medicine or Health will be considered.
  3. Experience: Experience working within an Occupational Health role in public and private sectors.
  4. Case Management: Experience dealing with complex case management and providing advice in relation to work on health and health on work.
  5. Clinical Diagnostic Skills: Possess good clinical diagnostic skills and understand the appropriate treatment practices.
  6. Guidance Knowledge: Knowledge of HSE and DWP guidance on fitness for work and safety at work.
  7. Health Screening: Ability to carry out health screening.
  8. Employment Law: Working understanding of relevant employment law in an occupational health context.
  9. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills.
  10. People Skills: Have good people skills and the ability to build relationships with our clients and their employees.
  11. Organisation: Be self-confident and well organised in their daily workings.
