Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Occupational Health Screening Nurse to provide health assessment and surveillance services to our employees and external contractors. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a small in-house nurse-led occupational health team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out health assessments and surveillance for pre-employment purposes, monitor and promote health, and demonstrate skills to work independently and within the team.
  • Advise on workplace health issues at all levels of the organization, demonstrating professional communication ability and passion for occupational health.
  • Arrange and prepare for Occupational Health Physician and Physiotherapy clinics, liaise with other healthcare professionals, and maintain effective communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Work at various sites, including Stocksbridge, Rotherham, Wednesbury, and Bolton, and cover for colleagues' annual leave, CPD, and other approved absences.
  • Provide a quality service, recommending improvements where necessary, and maintain high standards of client care.
  • Update and maintain the occupational health recording system, work with OH Admin to arrange and manage Occupational Health Physician clinics, and maintain effective communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Act as a representative of the department as business and/or professional needs require, maintain client confidentiality, and work within the framework of Data Protection requirements.
  • Provide occasional emergency first aid as needed to the local workforce, demonstrate IT skills, and maintain relevant systems with required information.
  • Be responsible for the safe use, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment and work areas, and maintain stock levels of consumable items.
  • Work within the scope of the NMC Professional Practice and Code of Conduct, demonstrating research, reflection, and best practice.

Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse (on the NMC register)
  • Recognised OH Nursing qualification (Dip/Cert)
  • NEBOSH certificate
  • Leadership qualification
  • Qualification in administration
  • Experience working in an Occupational Health setting or GP practice
  • Excellent administration, time management, planning, and organization skills
  • Excellent communication skills with good command of written English language
  • Knowledge of IT programs, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to produce and present health promotion topics
  • Ability to drive and use your own car for business purposes
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve
