Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in the Learning Disabilities Service. The successful candidate will have expertise in assessing and managing complex cases of learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child and adolescent psychiatry, with a focus on learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. They will be able to provide high-quality clinical leadership and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care.
The role will involve providing psychiatric consultation, assessment, and treatment to patients with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines, and participate in training and supervision of other team members.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide psychiatric consultation, assessment, and treatment to patients with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines
- Participate in training and supervision of other team members
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care
- Provide clinical leadership and expertise in learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders
- Primary Medical Degree
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date
- Section 12 MHA Approved
- Approved Clinician status
- An additional postgraduate qualification of relevance to working with children and adolescents
- Competence in Psycho-pharmacology and also non-medication therapeutic approaches
- Experience and training in the assessment and management of neurodevelopment disorders
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance/Care Quality
- Able to participate in Medical Audit and Quality Assurance
- Experience of teaching and supervision of junior staff and other disciplines
- Management Training
- Experience of Research
- Experience in Paediatrics
- Publication in peer-reviewed journal
- Excellent communication and empathic skills
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Experience of team working
- Sound organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Cultural Sensitivity and ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment
