Senior Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear Sector

Adepto Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team in the nuclear sector. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the specification and development of concept, scheme, and detail designs, ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.

You will work within a design office and have the opportunity to work on prestigious projects for a leading nuclear-based company. Material or mechanical handling project experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake engineering activities to budget and schedule, providing early identification of variances from project baseline.
  • Support the Principal Engineer in identifying the completion status of engineering activities and forecasting activity completion.
  • Ensure conventional and nuclear safety principles are applied in the development of engineering design solutions.
  • Produce design risk assessments to identify product lifecycle hazards and establish risk reduction control measures.
  • Work closely with Stress Engineers to define analysis requirements and load cases to substantiate engineering design solutions.
  • Develop engineering design solutions in compliance with engineering requirements and applicable codes and standards.
  • Undertake and record verification and validation activities to demonstrate compliance with engineering requirements and applicable legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated multidiscipline engineering design.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or an engineering discipline relevant to the role.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of the Machinery Directive, LOLER, PUWER, CDM, and other applicable legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Industry experience in either nuclear, materials handling, or similar environment is preferred.
