About the Role

West Sussex County Council is seeking a dedicated Childcare Worker to join our residential service. Our team provides a nurturing environment for children aged 7-18, offering a range of services including full-time care, short breaks, and outreach support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans, working collaboratively with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Participate in shift rotas, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins, to ensure 24/7 care.
  • Contribute to a culture of open communication, actively listening to children's needs and concerns.

Requirements

  • Good standard of literacy, with the ability to write reports and applications.
  • GCSE Grade D or above in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, with a commitment to completing this qualification within two years.
  • Desirable: awareness of child development needs, knowledge of Children's Home Regulations, and experience working with vulnerable children.
