Transformative Social Work Career Opportunities

Hampshire County Council is committed to delivering exceptional social work services, and we're seeking ambitious and forward-thinking Newly Qualified Social Workers to join our pioneering Graduate Training Scheme (GETS).

About the Role

As a Graduate Social Worker, you'll embark on a two-year programme of support and learning, designed to equip you with the skills and confidence to excel in frontline social work. You'll join a cohort of Graduate Trainees, undertaking an intensive 4-week induction period of high-quality training, followed by a district team placement to complete your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a comprehensive programme of learning and development, including 11 structured development days and 11 days for self-directed learning.
  • Work closely with a dedicated Practice Educator and a low caseload, increasing in line with your skills and confidence.
  • Contribute to the delivery of exceptional social work services, aligned with our strengths-based approach, The Hampshire Approach.
What We Offer

A competitive starting salary, a £3,000 one-off payment upon successful completion of GETS, and a range of professional development opportunities. You'll also benefit from strong collaborative working relationships and a network of multi-agency hubs.

Requirements

We're looking for Newly Qualified Social Workers who are passionate about delivering high-quality social work services. You'll need to meet the travel requirements of the role, which may include a full driving licence and access to a car. Reasonable adjustments will be considered for declared disabilities.

How to Apply

Applications are open now, with interviews and assessment days held on a rolling basis. We encourage applicants to apply early, and you're welcome to apply while your social work qualifications are in progress. If successful, you'll be asked to choose a cohort based on vacancy availability.
