About the Role

Rapiscan Systems is a leading provider of detection technology, offering cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling, and trade fraud. We are seeking a highly skilled Graduate Radiation Physicist to join our Science and Technology team.

The successful candidate will work on system-level data capture, analysis, and performance tracking for High-Energy X-ray sources and detector assemblies. They will collaborate with physicists, software, and electronics engineers to experimentally evaluate innovative designs and concepts, while supporting legacy programs and existing schemes of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the data capture, analysis, and system performance optimisation for multiple products at Commissioning and customer acceptance testing.
  • Explore methods to reduce the dose footprint of X-ray imaging systems, maximising performance at lower X-ray doses.
  • Understand and disseminate relevant standards for X-ray performance and dose exposure in Cargo and Vehicle imaging.
  • Develop tools and techniques to anticipate system image performance, analyse X-ray images, and establish trends and correlations.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models to predict detector response to X-ray illumination and replicate X-ray spectral compositions.
  • Work closely with the software team to develop and deliver image enhancement tools and filters.
  • Support programs to deliver fully compliant X-ray imaging systems at customer acceptance tests.
  • Take responsibility for the design of X-ray based imaging systems for inspection of cargo and vehicles.
Requirements

Graduate/Postgraduate experience in radiation physics with experimental background. Experience using Excel and Matlab for data analysis. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced product development environment. Willingness to support offsite programs of work.
