Job Title: Graduate Radiation Physicist

At OSI Systems, Inc, we are seeking a highly skilled Graduate Radiation Physicist to join our Science and Technology team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving forward our Research and Development Roadmap.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in radiation physics to work on image performance validation, test phantom hardware design, and image reconstruction techniques for High-Energy X-ray sources and detector assemblies. You will work closely with physicists, software, and electronics engineers to experimentally evaluate innovative designs and concepts, while supporting legacy programs and existing schemes of work.

Responsibilities
  • Support the data capture, analysis, and system performance optimization for various products during Commissioning and customer acceptance testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry performance standards for X-ray security screening and oversee a suite of test fixtures and phantoms to support image capture.
  • Own the creation, maintenance, and dissemination of image capture protocols and techniques for validating system-level performance capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models using Excel, Matlab, and Geant4 to predict detector response to X-ray illumination and replicate X-ray spectral compositions.
  • Work closely with the software team to develop and deliver image enhancement tools and filters into the inspection suite.
  • Support programs and projects to deliver fully compliant X-ray imaging systems at customer acceptance tests, both on-site and at customer facilities worldwide.
  • Take responsibility for the design of X-ray-based imaging systems for inspection of cargo and vehicles.
Requirements
  • Graduate/Postgraduate experience in radiation physics with an experimental background.
  • Experience using Excel and Matlab for data analysis.
  • The ability to work with others in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced product development environment.
  • Willingness to support off-site programs of work, often at short notice and out of normal working hours in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience using C# for desktop application development.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes to examine real-time pulse shape data from radiation detector units.
