Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Clinical Hepatologist to join their team. The successful candidate will work alongside a cohesive department to provide excellent patient care in a large teaching hospital in East London.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the care of patients in their charge, including administrative duties associated with patient care. They will also be involved in leadership, development, and organisation of services in their charge, in line with the Trust's business plans.

Key Requirements

  1. Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  2. Membership of a medical defence organisation
  3. CCT in Gastroenterology and G(I)M, or within 6 months of obtaining same

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC registration
  • CCT in Gastroenterology and G(I)M, or within 6 months of obtaining same

Desirable Criteria

  • Higher research degree

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Broad experience in hepatology clinics and ward work
  • Excellent clinical skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of developing and improving patient pathways between primary and secondary care

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Detailed knowledge of hepatology and specialist skills required for the post
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and commitment to improving quality of care
  • Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to lifelong learning

Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing staff
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy with evidence of KPIs

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to manage staff and resources effectively
