About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Hepatologist to join our team at Kings College Hospital. As a Consultant in Hepatology, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients with liver diseases.

Job Summary: The post holder will work closely with colleagues within the Liver Unit and the Liver/Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Care group to deliver excellent patient care. You will have expertise in managing HPB medicine and young adult hepatology, as well as a sub-speciality interest to complement the interests within the unit. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to clinical and translational research.

Main Responsibilities:

  • The provision of first-class clinical service to patients
  • Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
  • Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King's College London / KHP
  • Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
  • Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans
  • Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group or the Trust

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:

  1. To provide a high quality care service to patients together with other colleagues
  2. Shared responsibility with other colleagues for providing 24 hours, 7 days a week cover for the Unit on a rota basis
  3. Provide clinical supervision of junior medical/dental practitioners as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues
  4. Take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Care Group's Business Plan
  5. Conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for service(s)
  6. Be aware of, and comply with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies

Person Specification: Qualifications

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • MD or PhD

Registration

  • Full registration with GMC and Name on Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment

Training and Experience

  • Wide experience in all aspects of Hepatology, culminating in award of CCT or equivalent in Gastroenterology/Hepatology
  • Experience in managing autoimmune liver disease, and young adults with liver disease

Salary: The salary for this role is £105,504 - £139,882 per annum, excluding the London Zone Allowance.
