Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join our Critical Care team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical pharmacy services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver the pharmacy critical care service, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the hospital formulary, collaborating with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Information.
  • Provide training and education to clinical staff on critical care skills and best practices.
  • Act as a trainee pharmacist tutor/diploma mentor, supporting the development of junior pharmacists.
  • Contribute to the writing and checking of pharmacy information bulletins, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service in critical care, promoting high-quality drug use, effective risk management, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Manage drug budgets and advise on medication-related matters, ensuring adherence to trust policies and guidelines.
  • Provide regular ward pharmacy coverage, ensuring a safe, effective, and efficient clinical pharmacy service.
  • Support the clinical pharmacy services, dispensary, production, and medicines management program as needed.
  • Lead on and contribute to relevant practice research or audit projects, publishing results as appropriate.

Requirements
  • MRPharmS or equivalent registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Completion of a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Mandatory continuing professional development to maintain fitness to practice.
  • Relevant hospital experience, including staff management and leadership.
  • Ability to critically review services and processes, with effective organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and alone, with management experience and the ability to integrate research evidence into practice.
