Fire Safety Coordinator Job Description

MMP Consultancy is seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Coordinator to join our team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and managing the fire risk assessment program for all relevant buildings within the borough.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage the overall fire risk assessment program, ensuring compliance with the Council's legal and mandatory obligations.
  • Manage and administer the program of fire risk assessments and other fire safety related matters, prioritizing actions to ensure business needs are met.
  • Record and evidence compliance with the Council's legal obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Manage workloads of Fire Surveyors to ensure maximum use of resources.
  • Develop and maintain IT systems, ensuring they remain fit for purpose in accordance with legislation and any subsequent legal amendments.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on levels of compliance, highlighting areas of concern and developing remedial actions to mitigate risks.
  • Compile and report on data from fire risk assessments, identifying risk actions and target setting.
  • Liaise with external health and safety bodies, including HSE and London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, to mitigate risks and provide service improvements.
  • Compile packages of work for investment projects, investment programs, and other fire safety related projects.
  • Liaise with internal bodies, such as Building Control and Planning, to ensure statutory requirements are met.
