Senior Executive Director

The Data Lab, Scotland's Innovation Centre for Data and Artificial Intelligence, is seeking a seasoned leader to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer. This exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to drive the next phase of The Data Lab's development and cement its position as a catalyst for innovation in the data and AI ecosystem.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for establishing the overarching vision and strategy for The Data Lab. This will involve safeguarding a high-performance culture based on collaboration, providing leadership and strategic direction, and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of board-level experience within high-technology organisations, with a deep understanding of the funding and investment landscape across the Scottish technology ecosystem. They will also possess a proven ability to develop and drive a strategic vision, as well as foster a collaborative culture that promotes high-performance.
Key responsibilities will include leading the Executive Team, ensuring the development of a robust business plan, and securing funding contributions from public, private, and philanthropic sources. The successful candidate will also be expected to build and maintain a strong network of industry stakeholders, existing innovation centres, and trade bodies relevant to The Data Lab's goals.
With a strong general knowledge of the challenges facing the technology sector within the UK, the ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in informatics or a Computer Science related field. They will also possess strong commercial awareness and a depth of knowledge around the funding and investment landscape across the Scottish technology ecosystem.
