Director of Utility Engagement

The Utility Director, Europe will play a critical role in shaping the company's utility engagement strategy, power acquisition, and utility development across Europe. This position requires a strong leader who can build and lead a team responsible for utility engagement, power delivery, utility infrastructure procurement, and high-voltage operations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive utility engagement strategy to secure power capacity for QTS data centers across Europe.
  • Lead strategic engagement with power utilities across Europe to negotiate favorable contracts and ensure reliable power supply.
  • Oversee all aspects of utility projects, including scope, schedule, and budget, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including energy, development, and sales, to evaluate and secure required power capacity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including utility companies, OEMs, consultants, and partners in Europe.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, construction management, energy management, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in data center, utility, and/or energy projects, including utility contract negotiations.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to support relationship building and projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience developing and fostering utility industry relationships.
  • Strong understanding of the power study and contracting process at various utilities.
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in other European languages strongly preferred.
