About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Legal Affairs to join our dynamic and fast-paced legal team at Immediate Media Co. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology-focused lawyer to lead our legal work on technology, digital media, and general commercial matters.

As a key member of our legal team, you will work closely with internal senior executives and business stakeholders to realise the company's strategic goals while fostering our culture and values. You will be responsible for advising on technology procurement, digital media, and commercial contracts, as well as providing supervision and line management for our Data Governance Officer.

This role would suit a lawyer with a commercial mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and prior line-management experience. You will have a deep understanding of technology and digital media law, as well as experience with e-commerce, privacy, and data protection matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising on technology procurement, including software, SaaS, cloud-based systems, and outsourcing partners.
  • Leading on digital media and eCommerce matters, including ad tech, payment portals, app development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial contracts and partnerships.
  • Providing supervision and line management for our Data Governance Officer.
  • Ensuring compliance with company processes and policies, as well as monitoring and advising on changes in laws, rules, and regulations affecting the company.

Requirements:

  • Commercial mindset and a pragmatic, solution-led approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and prior line-management experience.
  • Qualified to practise law in England and Wales or another common-law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Expertise in technology and digital media law, as well as experience with e-commerce, privacy, and data protection matters.
