About Us

Broom Road Medical Centre is a small but busy practice located in the Croydon area, serving a list size of around 3,325 patients. We offer a wide range of health services, including medical advice, vaccinations, examinations, treatments, prescriptions, referrals to other health services and professionals, as well as social services. Our team works closely with other professionals such as physiotherapists, mental health specialists, social prescribers, pharmacists, and many more to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Practice team, including:

  • Receiving and directing patients, ensuring they receive the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous and efficient manner;
  • Providing general assistance to the Practice team and maintaining a positive image of the Practice;
  • Managing appointment bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling;
  • Handling incoming emails and phone calls, responding to queries and concerns;
  • Performing administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and photocopying;
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies and procedures;
  • Participating in audit and quality improvement initiatives;
  • Contributing to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities, suggesting ways to improve performance, and working effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patient needs.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • O/GSCE Level qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent;
  • A demonstrable commitment to professional development;
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to organise workload priorities and use own judgment and initiative when dealing with problems and enquiries;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent telephone manner;
  • Ability to communicate positively with patients and all members of the Practice team and outside organisations;
  • Ability to recognise, accept, and adhere to the need for strict confidentiality;
  • Good knowledge of the English language and grammar;
  • Ability to work independently but also as a team member;
  • Flexible and adaptable.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
