Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join our team. As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of our infrastructure projects. Your primary focus will be on site management, technical coordination, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with site management, technical specialists, and commercial staff to ensure project objectives are met.
- Monitor site activities and implement project safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain high standards of environmental awareness and behavior, promoting sustainable practices throughout the project.
- Supervise and mentor assistant, trainee engineering, and technician staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Monitor and record delivery against the agreed program and construction methods, ensuring timely completion and quality standards are met.
- Verify that drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction before work commences.
- Request any missing information in sufficient time to meet the program, ensuring no delays or disruptions to the project.
- Ensure that works are accurately and clearly set out before work commences, minimizing errors and rework.
- Record all verbal instructions received from clients or designers in writing, on the same day, to maintain a clear audit trail.
- Implement Inspection and Test Plans and checklists at the appropriate stages, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Complete daily diary records and ensure they are maintained by others under your supervision, providing a clear record of site activities.
- Assist in preparing 'look ahead' programs in conjunction with supervisory staff, coordinated with the overall site program, to ensure smooth project progression.
- Monitor and report progress against 'look ahead' programs, identifying any potential issues or delays.
- Prepare written risk assessments and activity plans for the control of works, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Ensure written risk assessments and activity plans/method statements are in place prior to works commencing, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Verify that COSHH assessments are in place for materials to be used, and that the requirements are being followed, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Ensure that testing/sampling of materials is carried out as required by the specification, verifying the quality of materials used.
- Record and report Non-Conformances and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken, maintaining a high level of quality and compliance.
- Ensure materials and workmanship meet the specification, maintaining accurate records and proofs.
- Contribute to the monthly and quarterly commercial forecast and reporting for your section of works, providing valuable insights into project performance.
- Provide accurate setting out for works before work is programmed to commence, allowing time for independent checking.
- Arrange formal checking of setting out and ensure check request forms are completed, verifying the accuracy of site activities.
- Ensure that material delivery tickets are passed to the section engineer for cost coding, maintaining accurate records of materials used.
- Carry out testing/sampling of materials as required by the specification, verifying the quality of materials used.
- Carry out site measures for control and ordering of materials, taking receipt of materials and checking description, quantity, markings, and condition before signing for receipt.
- Ensure that comprehensive records of all resources employed on additional works are maintained and submitted for signature within 24 hours of the work being carried out, maintaining a clear audit trail.
- Complete Observation cards if you observe something unsafe, damaging to the environment, or not good enough, with the consent of the work preparation and execution phase for the preparation of Thames Wharf.
Requirements
- Proven experience of working with setting-out structures and civil engineering/building construction.
- Prior experience in Civil Engineering.
