Job Title: Mental Health Practitioner

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team as a Mental Health Practitioner, working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a comprehensive screening and triage service to children and young people and their referrers, resulting in safe and appropriate clinical decisions and interventions.
  • Timely and effective triaging of all referrals, adhering to the service specification, pathways, and protocols to support clinical decisions.
  • Be the first clinical point of contact for referrers and families, following agreed protocols and guidelines, and utilizing effective communication skills.
  • Ensure that sufficient, accurate, and appropriate information is gathered to direct the referral to the most appropriate pathway.
  • Be a point of contact for team members to discuss clinical queries that cannot wait until supervision or peer reflection.
  • Undertake priority assessments related to difficulties within the PALMS remit, to determine the needs of the child or young person, including whether it is safe for them to return to their home.
