About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at South and East Leeds GP Group. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients under the direct supervision of practice nurses and in accordance with specific PCN guidelines and protocols.
  • Complete NHS Health Checks, blood pressure readings, and ECGs following additional training (if required).
  • Accurately label and record blood samples in patient records in accordance with practice procedure.
  • Ensure timely dispatch of samples to laboratories.
  • Identify and report any anomalies to senior staff members.
  • Liaise with administrative teams to ensure seamless communication.
  • Restock consulting rooms and perform health promotion or education work as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Meet DBS standards.
  • Clinical skills in phlebotomy.
  • Ability to recognize and work within limits of competence and seek advice when needed.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work to policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to receive basic clinical training.
  • Valid driving license and own transport.
  • Ability to adapt to working with different audiences.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to health improvement.

  • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS check (completed upon employment).
  • Full UK driving license.
