About the Role

We are seeking a highly specialist speech and language therapist to join our Croydon Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team. As part of the Integrated neuro therapy team, you will provide multidisciplinary rehabilitation for people who have a neurological diagnosis.

The team consists of occupational therapists, neuropsychologists, rehabilitation support workers, and physiotherapists. You will be involved in various activities, including VF clinics and providing a FEES service.

We are committed to providing the best possible service to our patients and strongly believe in the continuing professional development of our staff. Regular appraisals and in-service training are provided.

Main Duties
  1. Assess, develop, and implement speech and language therapy for adult clients with communication and swallowing difficulties.
  2. Employ highly specialist interventions for patients/clients and carers who have severe disability and/or terminal illness on a daily basis, and evaluate outcomes.
  3. Provide advice and training to others regarding the management and care of patients/clients with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Recognised speech and language therapy degree qualification.
  • Evidence of specialist neuro SLT short courses.
  • Significant experience working as a band 6 SLT with adults who have a variety of neurological conditions, including stroke.
  • Experience working in the NHS as an SLT with adults who have a variety of neurological conditions, including stroke.
  • Experience working as an SLT with adults with neurological conditions in a community setting.
  • Previous band 7 SALT experience with adults who have a variety of neurological conditions, including stroke.

We are looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of national guidance and policies relevant to clients with stroke and other neurological problems. You should be able to identify what attracts you to this specific post in Croydon Health Services Trust.

We are looking for someone who is adaptable and flexible to changing priorities and needs of the patients/clients and the service.
