About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Singing for the Brain Support Volunteer. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive environment for people affected by dementia to enjoy a fun and engaging activity.

Singing for the Brain is a structured group session that combines music therapy and singing to promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being. As a volunteer, you will be responsible for welcoming and supporting participants, helping them to feel at ease, and encouraging them to participate in the activity.

You'll be great for the role if:

  • You have an interest in developing meaningful relationships and making a real difference in the lives of people affected by dementia.
  • You are passionate about music and its therapeutic benefits.
  • You are able to listen actively and display compassion and empathy towards participants.
  • You are comfortable working in a team and able to follow instructions and guidance.
  • You are able to navigate online platforms and use Zoom with confidence (if supporting virtual sessions).

This group currently meets on Thursdays. We are looking for regular volunteers for our groups in Abergavenny and Monmouth.
