Job Title: Solar Energy Technician

Sites throughout the UK..

Job Purpose: As a Solar & Battery Storage Technician, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of utility-scale battery storage plants and ground-mounted solar PV plants. This is a field-based role where you will ensure the plants operate safely, efficiently, and within budget. This permanent position requires participation in weekend on-call duties as part of a rota, with overtime opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of AC/DC systems, inverters, and communication equipment.
  2. Diagnose and repair faults, ensuring quick response and effective resolution.
  3. Maintain health and safety standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety practices.
  4. Conduct planned maintenance and inspections in compliance with legal, manufacturer, and contractual requirements.
  5. Support subcontractors by ensuring their work adheres to safety and quality standards.
  6. Travel between sites regularly, with occasional travel for training or site coverage.
  7. Keep accurate records and compile reports on maintenance activities.
Required Knowledge & Experience:
  1. Strong understanding of solar PV technology.
  2. Experience with SCADA systems, high-voltage switchgear, and communication networks.
  3. Familiarity with central inverters and battery storage technology.
  4. Experience with DC and LV installation, fault finding, testing, and commissioning.
  5. Capable of writing and revising Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  6. Previous experience working remotely and handling solar PV installation and O&M.

  1. Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.

  3. Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
  4. Computer literacy for report writing and email communication.
  5. Enthusiasm for personal development and growth.
  6. Adaptable to changing priorities and able to manage emergent issues effectively.

Qualifications:
  1. Full UK driving licence.
  2. Approved Electrician status.
  3. Valued qualifications: Inspection & Testing.
  4. Desirable: First Aid certification and Health & Safety qualifications.
