Job Description:

As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Head Chef to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, upholding high culinary standards, and contributing to the creation of exceptional Italian dishes.

You will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen staff, managing food preparation, and ensuring that all dishes are made to perfection.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation;
  2. Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring that all culinary tasks are performed to the highest standards;
  3. Ensure consistency and quality control across all dishes, with a particular focus on authentic Italian cuisine;
  4. Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients, particularly fresh pasta, meats, seafood, and other key Italian ingredients;
  5. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations;
  6. Assist in the development of new menu items, seasonal specials, and innovative Italian dishes;
  7. Ensure kitchen staff follows proper food handling procedures, hygiene standards, and safety protocols;
  8. Help with staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations;
  9. Step in to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  1. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-end Italian restaurant or fine-dining setting;
  2. Good knowledge of traditional Italian cuisine and modern cooking techniques;
  3. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills;
  4. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  5. Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful and delicious dishes;
  6. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen management best practices;
  7. Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience is a plus.
