Band 7 - Practice Development Midwife

Fixed Term Contract for 1 year - Full time

The maternity service at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are seeking an experienced clinical midwife to support the development of our midwives, including preceptorship midwives, international midwives, return to practice midwives and student midwives.

We are committed to providing a progressive environment where we can transform our maternity services. The postholder will provide leadership and clinical advice to promote excellence in safe, evidence-based practice for our midwives.

The postholder will work closely with the Practice Development Team, providing teaching, support and pastoral care to our midwives. They will also support the Maternity unit in its training and development programmes for all clinical staff.

The postholder will be a role model for midwives, maternity support workers and maternity nurses within the maternity department, and will be responsible for the continuing professional development of midwives, MSWs and maternity nurses.

Main Duties of the Job

The Practice Development Midwife will be responsible for the advanced clinical support and development of midwifery staff working in hospital and community settings. This includes maintaining an up-to-date register of continuing education for maternity staff.

The postholder will provide clinical and professional advice to ensure optimal use of midwives' skills, and will liaise closely with the Director of Midwifery, Consultant Midwife, Obstetric Team, Midwifery Matrons/Managers and University of West London regarding training needs for staff.

Criteria

Essential

  • Registered practising midwife currently on NMC Register
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience working in a midwifery role
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Mentorship or teaching accreditation: ENB 997 or equivalent, SSSA supervisor and assessor
  • Clinical teaching

Desirable

  • NIPE trained
  • NLS trained
  • PROMPT trainer
  • Teaching qualification
