Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Practice Development Midwife to join our team at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and clinical advice to support and promote excellence in safe, evidence-based practice for our midwives.

Main Responsibilities

The Practice Development Midwife will be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical and professional advice to ensure optimal use of midwives' skills
  • Liaising closely with the Director of Midwifery, Consultant Midwife, Obstetric Team, Midwifery Matrons/Managers and University of West London regarding training needs for staff
  • Leading the coordination of mandatory maternity training and in-situ drills and skills
  • Working alongside midwives in clinical practice who need additional support and assessing the learning needs of preceptorship midwives, international midwives, return to practice midwives and student midwives

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered practising midwife currently on NMC Register
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience working in a midwifery role
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Mentorship or teaching accreditation: ENB 997 or equivalent, SSSA supervisor and assessor
  • Clinical teaching

Desirable qualifications include NIPE trained, NLS trained, PROMPT trainer and teaching qualification.
